Samuel Cary Evans, Jr. was born November 22, 1866 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Samuel Cary. and Minerva (Catlin) Evans. The family moved to California in 1874 and settled in Riverside County, where S.C. Evans, Sr. (1823-1902) became one of the founders of the city of Riverside. S.C.
